Bach-Handel-Beethoven

Here’s a sequence of notes that are always in my head. Originally I used to just have the Beethoven bits (and it’s still the best) but then I got the Handel bit (which is where Beethoven got it from, Handel being his favourite dude), and then found out he nicked it from Bach anyway. Ho Hum.

Beethoven. (By a young new dude conductor doing some good interpretations of pieces I like – Prokofiev next I guess!)

Handel

Bach

The important thing here is not the vague similarity in the music. No! Look at the setting and the mike(s) placement. Fantastic balance between straight sound and the reverb. The ambience is fantastic. 1 composer, 1 player, 1 setting, 1 mike. NO STUDIO! It’s Bach’s Cello Suite No. 6 -Courante + Sarabane (played by the late Rostropovich)
