Bridge Hotel, Newcastle

I’ve just been browsing my photos and have found a neat one taken in 2002 of the Bridge Hotel looking southwards down from The Keep. For those that don’t know, The Keep is the “New” “Castle”. It was made in 1086 or something, so maybe we should change the name of Newcastle back to what it was before the bastard Normans fucked up England for everyone.

Monkchester.

It was so called because there were loads of religious orders in the city – so loads of monks too. There are heaps of references in the city to these places; er…

  • Pilgrim Street
  • er..

The Bridge was where Crawling Chaos had their first gig and the bands usually set up inside the bay window area visible in the shot, on the first floor of the building. I think they are still doing it now, although of course, I don’t live there any more. I’ve added this info to the Crawling Chaos site here.
