Interestingly, the Russian & English Wikipedia references give different versions to his later life!  The English says,

Blokhin was forcibly retired following Stalin’s death, although his “irreproachable service” was publicly noted by Lavrenty Beria at the time of his departure.^[9] After Beria’s fall from power (June 1953), Blokhin’s rank was eventually stripped from him in the de-Stalinization campaigns of Nikita Khrushchev. He reportedly sank into alcoholism, went insane, and died in February 1955 with the official cause of death listed as “suicide“

and the Russian says,

2 April 1953, dismissed from the Ministry of State Security for health reasons.

23 November 1954 deprived the rank of Major-General “as a discredited over time in the organs … and unworthy in connection with the high rank of general,” ^{[6] [7]} . According to medical opinion Blokhin suffered from hypertension the third degree, and died of myocardial infarction ^{[8], [6] [7]} , according to other sources – shot ^[9] .

He was buried at Donskoi Cemetery ^[10] .

In either sense, he didn’t have a happy end.  Guilt?  Karma?
