Apparently, we are all getting really afraid and are ‘more afraid than we were in 1999′! Read the latest reasearch in the BBC article here, UK society ‘increasingly fearful’.
Now check the web address… The BBC chose to insert this piece of obvious self-fulfilling research under ‘Health’. Why would they do that? Surely it should be under ‘Politics’, ‘Environment’ or ‘Business’ or ‘Also in the News’.
That fact that one’s health suffers when one is anxious is not a health problem. The cause is an internal reaction to external events, namely, the increasingly strident messages of doom from our politicians and in cahoots, the media.
- Politicians have to speak and be heard – the more virulent the message, the more people listen. They think.
- The News media have to speak and be heard – the more virulent the message, the more people listen. They think.
The two sides of the coin are identical. Each ‘job’ needs the other to survive.
But what’s to be done? What’s to be done? Gnash, Gnash! – that’s the sound of teeth grinding…
STOP talking about ‘terror’. STOP using the word. The word ‘terror’ should be used as a last resort. You know, like when the Crusaders took Constantinople killing everyone in sight or when the Japanese took Nanking killing everyone on sight or when the Romans took Carthage killing everyone on sight.
Now that’s TERROR
The possibility that someone might be doing some plotting to possibly try and injure some people or property – that’s NOT terror. That’s police work! It’s what they do, it’s what they’ve always done, it’s what they’re paid for and what they’ve always been paid for.
Simply enforcing the law is not terror prevention.
Get a grip folks.
