The Problem to be Pondered Night and Day

….. you had better cut short your sleep by night and curtail your leisure by day, and ponder this!

You must not spend your lives in vain and regret it for ten thousand years to come.

Yay Nichiren!

This quote is taken from The Writings of Nichiren Daishonin, Volume One, page 622

Says it all really.  We must continue to strive to do our very, very, best at whatever field we choose.

Of course, if you consider that your life (or existence) is finite, terminates and that’s it, then these words would logically have no effect on you.

If on the other hand you can empathise and react to these words by even the slightest teeny-tiny bit, or want to think this way “just in case” – like many people who classify themselves as Christian but don’t practice do, then the nihilistic version of life is logically inconsistent with that thought in your head, and you must choose what path to take.  You cannot stay at the fork.  It’s not good for you!
