Since the first posting about this scam about 10 days ago, Google Treasure Chest – it’s a scam and a half! alone has attracted over 3000 page views. From these, about 100, sometimes desperate, people have commented and admitted that they’ve been sucked into the scam on that and the other postings around the subject.
Make from these numbers what you will.
- Maybe it means I’ve stopped over 2000 people getting ripped off?
- Maybe, as I suspect, most people don’t like to admit they’ve been made to look a chump – and I can empathise with that.
I’m in a computer-free zone for a day or two so any further comments will be held for moderation. If I didn’t, I’d have about 3000 comments of viagra garbage from our friends in St Petersburg and Shanghai which would make information very hard to find! The comments list would be about a mile long…
So until then, if you’ve been conned by the Google Treasure Chest/kit/pack and the host of related websites:
- Don’t give up
- Act swiftly
- Call one of the numbers that we’ve found that works from people’s comments under the postings
- Cancel the subscription
- Warn your bank if necessary
- Change your credit card if necessary
You can still leave information and tips for other victims, but if you’ve not commented before, your comment won’t show immediately. As a resource for others, all information is valuable, so please post away!
I’ll be back

Ok they charged my account twice within one week 72 bucks a pop. the disclaimer and terms and conditions were not on the website when i signed up for this crap, they were not at the bottom because i always scroll my screen…anyways they refunded the first amount when i called then the next day after i cancelled they charged me again the same amount.
cancel your card they will keep charging you i promise….some people will say it is our fault but really the way they showed it with the google checks and claiming you can post links and make money i mean who wouldnt think thats somewhat legit..but i have to admit the second i entered my credit card number i had a feeling i was hopping on wild toads magic ride of the unkown.

@silgneb
How did you get charged twice? Did you click the button twice, or did you ‘enrol’ from two different websites or did they just charge you for the hell of it? !!

Update: I’m still waiting to see what happens with my disputed charges at the bank, but I did cancel within 7 days, I even sent a Registered Letter so I could have proof of the cancellation.
The interesting question, I didn’t ask the postal service for a signature upon receipt of the letter, just confirmation that it was delivered..I wonder who accepted it? When I google the address I had, it shows up as a motel. :-)

Was that the motel I found with the Google Streetview? Jackson, I think.

Last update: Yesterday evening I noticed the charges were both reversed by my bank (the original shipping charge and the membership charge). But for all of those out there who got caught up in this, I’m sure it was only reversed because I did cancel within the 7 days (and was still charged, surprise surprise) and had proof that I tried to do so. I’m not sure what would have happened if I had not attempted to cancel within 7 days, I suspect the bank would have said “too bad”. In terms of the shipping fee, it’s been almost 4 weeks, and I still have received nothing…

4 weeks! That’s does not sound good… So much for acting fast and keeping records.
Keep us updated with any extra news, can you, please?

These are rebills and you will need to cancel the subscription by phoning your bank. It happened to a friend of mine and that's what he did to stop the charges.
