This post from 100dollarSEO, blog-spamming-how-to-why-you-should-stop has an interesting take on comment spam and a way to deal with it that never occurred to me.
Phone them up!
The blogger has noticed, like me in this post, two-examples-of-a-moving-trend-in-wordpress-comment-spam/, that most of the links are to real bona-fide companies.
Now I thought that the companies were part of it and had added them to my little black book (like Jack Charlton). 100dollarSEO actually phoned the companies up and found that they hadn’t a clue about the bad press they getting!
It all done by link-building scammers who are really just a different class of email spammer.
