Tories Reveal Authoritarian Roots While Liberals Check Their Shoelaces

None are more hopelessly enslaved than those who falsely believe they are free.Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

Yet again I’m forced to side with the grinning David Davis.  This doesn’t happen often and is embarrassing to admit!.

ConDem Coalition Pledges Broken!

ConDem Coalition Pledges Broken!

It’s all about the government plans to allow full-scale unauthorised real-time monitoring of every person in the UK’s internet activity!  It’s so 1984.

“It was a bright cold day in April, and the clocks were striking thirteen” – (George Orwell: Nineteen Eighty-Four
.

Orwell must be turning in his grave in despair that what he predicted as a warning about what not to do, now looks like coming to fruition.

Remarkably, since wangling themselves into government, the conservative-libdem coalition government is now actually dropping a key part of their manifesto which they laboriously agreed two years ago.  This can still be found on the government website, page 11 to be exact (pdf) .  Here’s what they said:

  • The Government believes that the British state has become too authoritarian…. We need to restore the rights of individuals in the face of encroaching state power – FAIL
  • …reverse the substantial erosion of civil liberties and roll back state intrusion – FAIL
  • … introduce safeguards against the misuse of anti-terrorism legislation – FAIL
  • …end the storage of internet and email records without good reason – FAIL
  • …a British Bill of Rights that … protects and extends British liberties – FAIL

(Actually, the whole Con-Dem pledge list makes good reading to see just how far removed from it our evil diktat of quangos has become.)

So what to do – use TOR.

ID Cards

Not so long ago I was haranguing the former Labour government about their plans for ID Cards, their laws over CCTV and photographing in public places, the reduction  in privacy for individuals and the removal of our civil rights over detention without trial, due cause and 3rd party notification for first 90 days and them 42 days.

I left the Labour Party because of it and have not rejoined.

Huge Vocal Resentment Against UK Government Secret Citizen Monitoring Plans.

try the Tor browser bundle

The new news (I thought it was an April Fool joke initially!) is that Email and web use is ‘to be monitored’ under new laws proposed by this nasty, nasty government.  Happily, there is now a huge and vociferous resentment against this from the general public who can see this evil act for what it is.  Top among them is David Davis!  See this link and the thousands of comments for instance; Backlash over email and web monitoring plan.

Clueless

LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM - JUNE 14

Now, the tories and their liberal stooges have been shown to be both serially evil in their pronouncements and plans, and also serially incompetent of managing almost anything.

Their pathetic management of a minor industrial dispute (the fuel shortage) which did nothing except invoke almost universal resentment of the coalition and reawaken a general awareness of their ineffectiveness comes on top of stripping the very foundations away from one of UK society’s greatest inventions of the Industrial Age, our National Health Service (NHS).

United Kingdom

Top this behavioural abomination with that of the revolving door policy between banking and politics which they continue to promote with zero penalties for failure while the population-at-large have to prop up the whole system with their taxes means only two things to me.

  1. The government must do something desperate to have any hope of re-election in 3 years – this means either war (patriotism is the last refuge of a scoundrel) or economic boom-and-bust gambling.
  2. They will do something desperate to have any hope of re-election in 3 years – this means either war (patriotism is the last refuge of a scoundrel) or economic boom-and-bust gambling.

Astute folk will see this as my prediction for government actions over the next 3 years.

Tories: Keep Friends Happy

Meanwhile, hundreds of extra Tory donors will soon be available to bankroll the “all is good” story.  They will arrive as beneficiaries of the windfall provided as the “former NHS” contracts are handed out to friends, much like Michael Ashcroft benefited from the first round of NHS privatisation during the Thatcher era.  This article on Powerbase and this one (sourced from a now defunct article in The Scotsman) show quite clearly that 1/3 of cleaning contracts went to Ashcroft’s businesses during this time, saying;

MICHAEL Ashcroft, (…) bankrolled an “independent” publicity campaign that allowed his multi-million-pound contract cleaning empire to prosper and led to a change in the law. The campaign was run from the London office of the former Conservative Scottish secretary, Michael Forsyth. A spokesman for Mr Ashcroft confirmed last night that he had contributed to the Public and Local Service Efficiency Campaign (PULSE), which was set up in 1985 to persuade the public sector to contract out services such as cleaning and catering. The campaign had been disbanded by the end of the 1980s after the Conservative government passed the 1988 Local Government Act .  Mr Ashcroft’s Hawley Services Group, a contract cleaning firm later known as ADT, flourished under the new regime, with ADT, winning a third of NHS contracts between 1983 and 1988.

For further information into the depths that the Tories will go to enable all public money to be fed straight to their business friends, see this article which pulls apart the dealings of Ashcroft, discredited Dame Shirley Porter, NIMBY Nicholas Ridley, Chris Chope (the dog turd of Christchurch) and current (dodgy expenses, remember) minister Eric Pickles.

Once read, apply the same logic to our dear NHS, and weep again.  The same modus operandi is being used;

  1. discredit the current, imply alternatives are better;
  2. farm out internal monies to external Tory benefactors.

It’s just more sleaze just like under Thatcher before, backed up with warlike rhetoric.  Remember, only 10 days ago we had the news of billionaire Tory donors at Cameron’s dinner table, and Cameron trying to defend the cash-for-access news that made Labour’s cash-for-questions scandal appear like a sweetshop-ish wheeze in comparison.  See

Tory Party chairman Lord Feldman was one of the key figures in the ‘cash for access’ scandal which erupted after Tory party treasurer Peter Cruddas was caught offering a private dinner with David Cameron to undercover reporters who posed as wealthy party donors.  Read more: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/debate/article-2123692/Tory-cash-access-row-David-Cameron-crony-pal-cash-questions.html

Comment Spam Revisited

For no reason

Comment spam in WordPress

Comment spam in WordPress

…other than a try-out and also the current anti-spam plugins miss the odd bit of comment spam, I’ve now switched off TanTanNoodles’ Spam filter and am giving WP-SpamFree another try plus another plugin, AVH.  I’ve left Akismet running regardless.

WP-SpamFree

This now promises a lot, so it’s worth another shot.  Two years ago when I tried it, it had interactions with various other plugins, so I dropped it.  Since that time, the whole WordPress code has improved tremendously, as anyone who now uses it will know.  Visit plugin site

AVH First Defense Against Spam

Mailwasher Pro

Mailwasher Pro

This is a new one for me.  It uses the external databases of known spammers and their IP addresses as a blocking filter.  This is similar to anti-spam email programs like Mailwasher Pro that I use, so it seems to be “a good thing”.  This feature is optional, but it’s the most attractive part, IMHO.

It uses either or both of these two services for which an API key is needed. The key is free in each case.

Now it’s a case of “wait and see”.   Visit plugin site

What? No Google! Use Robert Allen Instead!

Introduction

Spring, last year, was when I first stumbled upon Pacific WebWorks (PWW) and their nefarious schemes.  That was when I happened upon Google Treasure Chest, one of their many scams.

This then ballooned into a miasma of a web of crime which frankly astonished me.

Then, across the globe, many people fought against the scammers and there have been some small victories when the (mainly USA) authorities have used the law against them.

But as many scribes (e.g. Paul Schlegel) pointed out (e.g. here), it would, and it has all returned.

Okay Subject Please!

June 20th 2008 - Looking Forward to VacationI’ve been trawling through the old posts on this website to see how the websites have changed.  True, Google Treasure Chest has sunk to the bottom of the ocean, but many of the old websites are still around.  They, the suck-in sites for the real ‘products’, divide, broadly, into two camps:

  • Fake blog sites
  • Fake News sites

Most of the fake blogs are gone, but most of the fake news sites are still around!  What has happened is with some very quick coding, all the pointers go to new, non-google type sites.  You can tell that the coding was quick because Google is still there in the hyperlink descriptions!!!

Example

Initial information on a fake News Site from @Not Kevin is here.  He said;

Clicked on the link to Easy Google Profit from this fake news story: http://www.businessgazette.net/finance/article-3910/ and about 6 different sites are loaded through some javascript thing including yoursearchprofits.com seofromhome.com bsadn.pantherssl.com and a few others.

Business Gazette

This is the fake news website here: http://www.businessgazette.net/finance/article-3910/  A screen-dump is shown on the right.
Hover your mouse over the ads or the links in the “Business Gazette” page.  They are all the same and they all point to http://www.businessgazette.net/google/ – Notice the word “GOOGLE” !!! Compared to previously, the links are now slimmed down to one!

Now click the link and it redirects to a really annoying, automatically starting  audio from someone called Ivan Fienney at this website: http://www.ivanblogsecrets.com/campaigns/rgah/IF_1_new.php?linkid=212144&subid=50519&subid2=65513   This link shows all the affiliate IDs etc.

However, if you strip them out, the page will still load from this address, http://www.ivanblogsecrets.com/campaigns/rgah/IF_1_new.php, or  if you type in or click http://www.ivanblogsecrets.com

Ivan the Terrible

If you listen to the smarmy voice, he’ll claim that it’s a real established business, is NOT MLM, is not a Pyramid scheme etc etc.  That’s him on the left.

Q. Where do his links go?

A. They go to something called a “Instant Wealth Program”.  You’ll find that the linking URL is http://212144.msicourse.com/

Q. So who could it be?

A. It’s that slimeball Robert Allen, famed for his spam, famed for his bankrupty, famed for real-estate dodgy deals.

Now Ivan Fienney, if you can stand the audio, claims that it’s not real estate or a scam, and yet, as I made plain last year, in Robert Allen’s own claims he DOES use real estate in one of his “plans”!

If you listen to Ivan until the 8:00 mark, you’ll find that the whole “plan” actually is “posting links on Google”.  Well what a surprise, I’m sure!

And there we have it.  The “Instant Wealth Scheme” is the old, old “make money with Google” scheme again.  Good ol’ Bobby Allen.  Aaah.

Robert Allen – Multiple Streams of Income

Slime Nosed DevilThe quaintly entitled website, http://212144.msicourse.com/, is indeed Robert Allen.  He’s hidden it’s WHOIS details using Moniker Privacy Services.  However, check out the screen-dump below and right (as well as Ivan’s above).

Multiple Streams of Income

He claims various things, like “as seen on TV” (the Aussie one I saw was investigative journalism where he refused to speak and the reporters were bundled out of the room!) or NY Times.  Maybe they are all investigative reports into his scam activities? Maybe they’re all a figment of ol’ Bobby’s fevered imagination?  Who knows?

But what I do know is that one of his merit badges is from “The Reader’s Digest” – who’ve just gone bust!!!  See http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/8520243.stm Nice one, Bobby.

Perú > LimaAlso notice that his website uses the famed “countdown timer”, a tactic abrasively commented upon in recent USA court cases against scammers.  If, like me, you’ve been on the page too long, it’ll helpfully prompt you when “time runs out” – and then gives you a whole extra ten minutes to make up your mind.  Gosh.  It’ll even do it again – with another 10 minutes!

I think I’ll pass on all that, if you don’t mind.

Prosper Inc

Robert Allen proudly states that he uses Prosper Inc for his “services”.  They, of course, are from Utah, see their contacts page here: http://www.prosperlearning.com/contact.html

Erroneous statement deleted.  Too many prospers but all info gratefully accepted.. (SP)

Now see the following few examples of complaints and worries:

Further Information

Last year’s post on Robert Allen is here.   Robert G Allen, Grants, and a Credit Card Slimeball.    From all of this, you can probably tell that he’s not on my Xmas Card list!  To confirm this, see various links which expose ol’ Bobby for what he was, and still is!

Awake but not Aware

Listening to brain activity?I was staggered to read the contents of this news article today; Vegetative state patients can respond to questions

Apparently, new research shows that people previously thought to be in a vegetative state can respond to questions “in a funny way” by being prompted to think of things as a way of answering the questions.  The scientists get the answer by looking at brain scans.

Buried in the news article was a sentence which I’ve summarised as this post’s title:

Awake but not Aware

You see, even though the person is vegetative (i.e. half-way to being dead), they can still hear and thinkbut are not aware that they are doing so!

I don’t think I can see anything that’s more bizarre.

It’s a kind of dream.

For a worst case scenario, consider hearing your relatives talking about switching your machines off.  To you, you see it as a dream – or as a witness to a film.

In a film you see horrors and niceties, but are always aware that it’s a film.

In the vegetative state, you see horrors and niceties, but are never aware that it’s real.

This is what this latest research tells us,

– and it implies that many judicial cases could be on the way.  What price a life?

It also shows that the gap between life and death is an even fuzzier one than we imagine, or legally define, in this land.

Final preparations for Xmas dinner involved another trip to Wallace’s venison Farm  on the Blackdown Hills for some Venison and Bison roasting joints.  Across the main road is a National trust area which has fantastic views over Taunton Vale, as seen here!  All pictures taken on a Panasonic Lumix TZ-7, although not all by me!
