My First BRITISH Google Business Kit

In this post Dangerous EffectiveCleanse – and Scams Too! two weeks ago, I mentioned how a scumbag webhost called byet.org is redirecting a client’s Amazon Shop clicks to that other pustule of conmanship called MyBookFace.net

Checks

MyBookFace Homepage Screendump

MyBookFace Homepage Screendump

Well I’ve just checked and it’s still on. (Someone wants to get that fixed!)  At the bottom of the MyBookFace landing page was an yet another advert for home working.  It’s the red one at the bottom and unusually, it’s BRITISH!

“Aye up!”, I thought.  “What’s going on here?”

Make Money Using Google!

What is going on is exactly the same rubbish that we’ve seen countless times from the rich jokers at Pacific Webworks (PWW).

Internet Success - Emily Rosher

Internet Success - Emily Rosher

This time, you’ll find the nice young family of “Emily Rosher”.  The website is at,

http://www.bizsuccessblogs.com/emilyrosher/blog/  (this company is hidden by a domain privacy outfit in Toronto)

As we know from our Google Treasure Chest, Google Money Kit, Google Revolution and other experiences, this isn’t real.  Check out the screendump.  See the smiling honest faces.  See the cheque with the same fingers as last year.  See the false comments and how they’ve stopped due to “spam” and “distasteful contents”…

Helpfully, if you check out at the very bottom of the screendump they tell it’s all false. (You’ll have to click the little green arrow to expand the picture size once it’s loaded to be able to see this)

But the $1.97 shipping fee is now a £1.23 fee.  Nowhere on “Emily’s” blog does it mention any monthly charges, but, y’know, you can still do all the bollocks of trying to cancel and still watch as requests for refunds are handled with disdain even though you think you’re within the time limit.

Q. How do I know this?

A. Because that’s what they do and that’s what they’ve always done.  A leopard can’t change it’s spots.  We have almost countless complaints against these charlatans.

Emily’s Saviour?

“Emily” bases all her success on one product.  It’s got a new name, and looks slightly different to Google Treasure Chest.  It’s called;

Home Business Kit Using Google

You’ll find it here if you follow “Emily’s” link,

https://secure1.s3curehost.com/gophuk/?offer=go_pw_cmv8&cm=514785&id1=894177674&id2=[OPTINFO]&session-id=06281e5f7f823c0036c28274637e9abc#

It just trips off the tongue for a catchy web address, doesn’t it?

A leopard, waiting to pounce on the Unwary?

A simple WHOIS on s3curehost.com shows it all run by Intellipay a.k.a Pacific Webworks in Salt Lake City, Utah  (see my other postings for their details).

But check out the layout!  Handily it’s got a nice Union Flag in case you’re confused.  It also says

Emily's T&Cs

Emily's T&Cs

“As seen on BBC, Economist, Guardian” – but then says at the bottom that it has nothing to do with Google?  Curious…

Let’s go back to Emily’s website.  Check out her Terms & Conditions.  She says,  “This website is not associated with ABC, CBS, CNN, MSNBC, or USA Today.” Er…where did they come from?

Source of “As Seen On…” Statements

Now despite the Google Kit being bollocks, there’s an interesting link in Emily’s T&C page (check the screen-dump).  In a nutshell, this claims that ALL the references ever made about “Stores Seen on ABC, AOL, Global, CNN and CNBC” emanate from this single New York Times post from 2006!

It’s called, Google’s Shadow Payroll Is Not Such a Secret Anymore.  It’s a reasonable enough piece, but one thing it’s distinctly lacking in, is the phrase “Stores Seen on ABC, AOL, Global, CNN and CNBC” or anything remotely similar to it or the various companies listed!

WTF!

Conclusion – or should that be Con, Clue? Shun!

One thing lacking from the “British” google thing is any mention of County Durham – in Britain!  The Philippines & Cyprus, Gibraltar & Nevis are also lacking.  Previously, in the Google Treasure Chest scam, these places popped up all the time.  Myself, @Not Kevin and others have spent many an hour chasing these things down.

PWW is certainly responding to the hits it’s getting both legal from the courts and verbal from all the various websites devoted to pulling apart their shady dealings.

The T&Cs make this clear in the “British” Google thing.  Specific mention is made that forces the “customer” not to start any chargeback proceedings no matter what the cause…. (..er  What about UK distance-selling regulations? Isn’t this a “British” site?  Ha Ha.  Don’t you believe it.)

This PROVES that chargebacks work and is the thing that PWW are most afraid of.  Here’s two bits from the T&Cs that prove this:

1.2 You unconditionally and expressly agree and accept the Conditions set forth herein  as a binding contract (“the Agreement”) enforceable by law.

AND

4.1 You agree that any disputed fee will not be charged back to Your credit card issuer. You expressly agree to submit in writing any objection regarding fees to 230 West 400 South, Suite 100 SLC UT, 84101
4.2 PCO, in its sole discretion, shall determine the validity of Your objection and notify You of its decision. Should You disagree with PCO decision, You agree to mediate the dispute before litigation.
4.3 You agree to indemnify PCO or associated product owners or resellers for any financial harm or any losses caused by Your objections to fees that do not comply with this Agreement. You will be held responsible for the reimbursement of any fees and losses incurred as a result of Your failure to comply with any provision in this Agreement.

Q.E.D.

They’re just putting the frighteners on.   PCO, by the way, stands for http://www.profitcenteronline.com, Profit Center Online.  It’s really PWW and is in Utah at the same PWW address.

ScamVictimHelp.com, Poacher turned Gamekeeper?

Introduction

Poacher turned Gamekeeper

a gun

Poacher or Gamekeeper?

I’ve been rss following a little thread where a job-seeking homeworker has been diddled out of thousands – see Saundrak’s Blog. It seems to have close ties to Pacific Webworks et al, maybe not directly, but the Golf Course, techniques,  or something.

Read this curious comment from someone called mlwood79 that just doesn’t look right to me, following my experiences with the scammers double-bluff etc in the old Google Treasure Chest scam.

Tracing mlwood79?

It’s not hard and doesn’t take long.  Despite not leaving any open invitation, Matt Wood leaves his email and phone number here, http://mlwood79.blogspot.com/, a single post on the free blogger web.

A similar search on the 877-725-8882 phone number pulls out something interesting.  For instance, there are these postings on various consumer/scam forums:

www.scamvictimhelp.com

Very quickly we end up at scamvictimhelp.com from these few links above.  They provide a fair bit of information.

225/365 - scam

Another Scam or Two?

scamvictimhelp.com is a very plush and professional looking site, with an opening video that put the colley-wobbles up me after my Robert G Allen experiences and the various Robert Millar video offerings. (see here for instance).

But the wordage is re-assuring enough, textually and on the video.  They seem to be White Knights, offering help to people who’ve been scammed by the recent splurge of Google/Tree/Credit stuff.

(On the subject of White Knights, Paul at WorkAtHomeTruth has had a separate rant that hints at the scammer’s double-bluffing we’ve previously observed.  Their new twists around old habits know no bounds!  Either that or piss-poor altruism.)  Who was it who said ‘eternal vigilance’?

Q. So Who are ScamVictimHelp.com?

A. Now there’s the rub!  USA folks will know the 877 phone number is non-geographic and a free-phone (see phone info).  The contact on the website is (like this one), a simple contact form.  So I don’t know where they are, from that! Hmm?

Q. So WHOIS ScamvictimHelp.com?

A. And there’s another rub!  Their name is ‘protected’ just like the scammers’, by Domains by Proxy, Inc. So I don’t know where they are from that! This facility is ‘supposed’ to be used to “protect individuals from spam”, but the reality for me is that,

if someone, offering a service, wants to hide their identity, then they’re up to no good!!!

Other Inconsistencies

So we see they want to hide themselves.   But from examining their website and some other forum postings (a weird way to advertise, is it not?), I’ve got three email contacts for the company:

  • Matt Wood – [email protected]
  • via spam reported here[email protected]
  • same email address is on http://www.scamvictimhelp.com/ homepage
  • Tyler Jackson – [email protected]

This means that they’re hiding their detail not because they don’t want to be spammed, but for another reason

By the way, I use email obfuscation on this website provided by Mike Greenberg ‘s phpEnkoder, which makes it almost impossible for content scraping robots to harvest email addresses for spam purposes.  Many sites use a similar technique….   but looking at their page source code, scamvictimhelp just use the simple mailto: html directive, which means that their email addresses can be harvested, but since the main one arrived in someone’s spam anyway, they don’t care about that, obviously.

You’ve got to really question their motives now…

Q. But What About ScamVictimHelp.com?

A. Well the best thing is to quote their stuff straight from their ‘About’ page (my emphasis below)…

We at ScamVictimHelp.com have a combined work experience of 25 years in the work-from-home/home based business industry. We have owned and operated back end telesales call centers for the majority of those years. Selling products, services, and personal coaching, designed to teach people how to make money from home through the internet, vending, stock market investing, real estate, and everything else in between. In which, we generated over 30 million dollars in sales revenue.

So they are a sales force organisation!  And I still don’t know where they are from that! Like I said at the beginning, poacher turned gamekeeper?  hmm…?  (Ironically, my original hook into this, Saundrak,  was because she was conned by a ‘personal coaching service’!!)

The best bit is in their very short Terms page.  Basically, they’ve stripped out all the reams of disclaimers and obfuscated money arrangements from the usual scammer T&Cs, and said that if you do happen to take up an offer from the website, all the results are from your work, and they can’t be blamed for anything…   the key scammer phrase of ‘opportunity seeker’ also pops up, like a bent penny.   Look! ….here’s what they say, so make up your own mind:

Any business opportunity related programs approved or recommended by Scam Victim Help.com, LLC on this site still require a sincere effort and patience on the part of the opportunity seeker. Since your results depend on the effort you apply to your business; individual results may vary

And I still don’t know where they are from that! Is this still poacher turned gamekeeper?  hmmm…?

Conclusion

If you’ve read some of the links listed above, you’ll have gathered that there’s a lot of uncertainty about this company.  Currently, from my limited research, no-one seems prepared to say right out that they’re up to no good.

But for my money, unless I start seeing some very positive reports and a lot more openness, I’d need a very large bargepole before I’d approach them.  Now where do you get barge-poles…?  Ha Ha.

The Vowells mentioned in the comments below have a host of businesses and put a lot into their local community.  Apart from the permanently dead car sales place previously at http://www.stgeorgechamber.com/New%20Members/executive.car.sales.htm, they have oil wells in Texas and a never-ending supply of internet-based ideas, like we’ve found.  Their former business www.oilinvestorsonline.com seems to be no more, at least in the internet world.

Whois Capital Energy Corp

Capital Energy Corp is still going though, and, unusually, unlike the St George Runners Baseball team who’ve cloaked their identity behind DomainsByProxy, are still visible to a WHOIS query!

Whois Intelligent Marketing

Curiously, since I checked a month or two back on the Baseball website, a lot of contact details have disappeared from the website.  I can understand the Vowell’s reasons….

But hey-ho.  There’s another Todd Vowell at a company called www.intelligentmarketing.com, in Cally-Forny-I-A!  But y’know, it may not be the same guy (Paul at WorkAtHomeTruth always treats such info with circumspection as he says in the comments below), but it’s quite a co-incidence, especially since my OpenDNS blocked the website right off because it’s classified as “Adware”!

From Slimeballs to Horoscopes

A Possible Start to Personal Details Theft?

Here’s how it works…

Some time ago I made a posting on the odiously chubby internet bankrupteer and millionaire self-publicist Robert Allen (see link here).  As part of this investigation I used the name “Morton” coupled to my spam magnet email address in order to see what would happen.

Sure enough, ‘Morton’ appeared in heaps of spam I started receiving.  Another example is in this comment to another investigation, here

Of course, the beauty of this system, is that you get all manner of spams to check out!!!  Their prevalence allows you to spot trends in the spam and the latest “marketing opportunities” in the get-rich-quick world of the internet.  You are privy to all the darkest goings-on in the seamy side of business…ha ha!

Horoscope Badness

This is all very laughable or laudable, depending on your view of horoscopes and free speech in a spam-laden commercial world.  The bad bit is the questionnaire…

The email link ends up after the usual whirring and clunking of redirecting gears at….

joypeaceandhappiness in IE

joypeaceandhappiness in IE

this website if you use Internet Explorer and come from California:

http://www.joypeaceandhappiness.com/forecast/tbirthinfo.asp

joypeaceandhappiness in Firefox

joypeaceandhappiness in Firefox

…and this site if you use Firefox, and just paste the web address into the browser:

http://www.joypeaceandhappiness.com/forecast/tbirthinfo.asp

Notice any similarity? !!

Dodgy Questionaire

The problem is with the questions…

In these days of phishing and social engineering, the questionsespecially, (as many people do), if you use an email address based on your real name, are a fraudster’s paradise!

‘She’ asks for:

  • Two email addresses
  • Your sex (from your title)
  • Your first name (can guess the last from your email addresses)
  • Your date of birth
  • Your time of birth
  • Your place of birth

In the UK, there’s almost enough information there to get a false passport, duplicate birth certificate or driving licence!!!  With a bit of studious Googling you could get addresses and then bank accounts…..

Conclusion

Be very, very careful if you get any of this horoscope rubbish in your mailbox.  It may be genuine carelessness or a deliberate phishing policy – who can tell?  The results are the same.

Or look at it this way – I’ve never, ever, bought anything by unsolicited mail.  It’s the desperation and lack of trust, see?

Furthermore, I know that the code word I set up, “Morton“, was planted by myself into a big vipers nest of spamophilia.  I’m hardly likely to trust anyone who sleeps with those bedfellows, am I?
