Robots and Fuel Strikes – What Are People Supposed to Do?

The Role of Work – What Is It?

  • Robot waiters in China

    Robot waiters in China

The role of work is at the heart of many societal norms, take the so-called “protestant work ethic”.

  • The current strikes in France, inspired by the fuel tanker driver strike, will have many of a “work ethic” mindset secretly envious but openly tut-tutting.
  • China, despite its vast available workforce, is expanding the world of robotics at a rate of 40% annually.

But what’s it about?

France

At the heart of the French issue is the unilateral imposition, without a vote, by the apparently socialist (but in reality just as no-liberal as the rest of the West) French government.  This imposes a relaxing of the 35 hour weekly work-time rule.

This is said to be good for employers.

China

Foxconn, one of the world’s largest computer & electronic equipment makers is ditching 60, 000 people, for robots!

http://www.bbc.com/news/technology-36376966

This is said to be good for…. erm….

Not Only That, But Also

Well, Big Mcdonald’s in the USA may be ditching workers for robots

http://www.foxbusiness.com/features/2016/05/24/fmr-mcdonalds-usa-ceo-35k-robots-cheaper-than-hiring-at-15-per-hour.html

Munch & Sleep

We all have to eat and in The West we use money to pay for it all.  We also pay for our dwellings and all the knick-knacks that make our lives what they are (studies thumb while blundering down high street with little box in hand).

The role of money in our lives and how we get it is paramount.

Now let’s consider those workers striking to keep their hours down, their money up and the role of robots in all of this, because it affects us all.

Sooner or later, most of us will have to consider our place in this robotic world.  Really.  What will you do?

Final Thoughts & Conclusion

Workers Going Nowhere in France

  • Work is NOT the be-all and end-all of everything.
  • Happiness is the be-all and end-all of everything.  (n.b. not the pursuit of happiness, just your average, every day happiness.  Goddit?)

So if:

  • McDonald’s and other fast food outlets ditch real human workers for robots (maybe just a food window like on the Star Trek Enterprise?),
  • waiters are replaced by robots,
  • computer makers ditch real people for robots,
  • doctors and even surgeons are replaced by robots,
  • trains, planes, buses and cars are all driven by robots…

…then we will all have much more free time.

BUT, and it is a big but,

  • How will we pay for our free time?

And for all those tut-tutting about the French workers on strike and jealous of a fully paid 35-hour working week

  • Where will your job be?
  • Where will you get your money?
  • Where’s your protestant work ethic now?

How will universal happiness be attained?

Because:

  • Not everyone is blessed with the muses.
  • Not everyone can be a politician.
  • Not everyone can run quaint tea shops and sell tat to tourists.
  • Not everyone can be a plumber.

Don’t start the argument that people will be needed to fix the machines, the phones, the computers.  Electronic devices are consumables now and do not need fixing.  They just get replaced. The people that currently devise new machines have been redundant for many years.

In fact, most new computer circuitry is designed…by computer!

Terminated

…and with robots creating robots that do all the work, what place for people?  With decision-making robots, maybe the Terminator series are closer than we think?

Murderous Robot Wars

Introduction

Robot Wars TV

Robot Wars TV

Professor Noel Sharkey from Sheffield, better known as one of the judges on the BBCTV show “Robot Wars” knows a thing or two about robots and artificial intelligence.  He’s made a plea for more debate about the use of robot planes in warfare. (see link)

BAE Mantis

BAE Mantis

He’s said, “An international debate is needed on the use of autonomous military robots.  A push toward more robotic technology used in warfare would put civilian life at grave risk.”

Watchkeeper Drone

Watchkeeper Drone

Actually, when you look at the statistics objectively and compare them to large conflicts, like WW1 for instance, a war that kicked off mechanised slaughter, then it’s bloomin’ obvious!

Slaughter

The BBC report says that,

Between January 2006 and April 2009, he estimated, 60 such “drone” attacks were carried out in Pakistan. While 14 al-Qaeda were killed, some 687 civilian deaths also occurred.

What this means is that 49 times as many civilians as combatants were killed!

This is truly horrendous.

WW1 Montage

WW1 Montage

Now lets look at the statistics from the dawn of mechanised slaughter, the war to end all wars, the war where the Last Tommy has just died….?

World War 1 Stats

In WW1, Germany invaded France, and the war was largely fought in Belgium and France.  On the battlefields and surrounding areas, many civilians died, as well as combatants, (source statistics here).  Here we go:

  • France:
    • Military Deaths = 1,397,800
    • Civilian Deaths = 300,000
  • Belgium:
    • Military Deaths = 58,637
    • Civilian Deaths = 62,000

Even including all countries involved, the statistics are stark.  Forget about the actual (huge) numbers – look at the proportions:

  • Total Military Deaths in WW1 = 9,721,937
  • Total Civilian Deaths in WW1  = 6,821,248

So overall, 0.7 civilians died for each soldier.

Terminator: Rise of the Machines

Terminator: Rise of the Machines

If we scale up the drone usage deaths into a global conflict sized scenario (and knowing the military, this is exactly what they’d do), and using the military deaths in WW1 as a starting point, how many civilians would die as the armchair pilots sought their foes?

Answer:

9,721,937 x 49 = 476,374,000

This is about the whole population of Europe!

Conclusion

Professor Starkey is completely correct.  If this is not a definition of the term putting civilian life at grave risk, then what is?

…and this is without attaching nuclear weapons to the planes…!!!

Of course, the effect of the usage of these machines and tactics is hardly likely to win over the Pakistani and Afghan tribesmen (the current targets) when every time one flies over a whole family is wiped out, is it?  So you have to ask yourselves,

If ‘The West’ is really trying to ‘win hearts and minds’ as they say, then what the fuck are they playing at?

in other words,

It looks like the real game is to continue the ‘war against terror’ to ensure that our people stay cowed and afraid and to justify the existence of the ‘military industrial complex’.

Just like the government in the film, “V for Vendetta”.

There are No Safe Secrets

A Secret Shared:

– Is Not  a Secret

One Third of Second-Hand Hard Drives Contain Secrets

This is the astonishing findings from research conducted by three Universities, from Wales, the US & Australia (see here).

In an absolutely random sample of second-hand discs bought at computer fairs and places like eBay, 34% had secret, classified and/or personal data of the highest order, easily retrievable using standard tools e.g. Undelete!

@AmazonCurrently, virtually all data is  stored magnetically on discs (and tape).  These media are actually quite fragile…..

The new Solid State Discs (SSD) which will rapidly supersede them over the next few years, are infinitely more robust (see advantages).  It’s said that the only way to really get rid of data from an SSD, is to whack a nail right through the chip, drive backward and forwards over it several times with a road roller, and then cast it into the flames and melt it down, Terminator style.

Given that ALL government data storage uses exactly the same storage technology as Auntie Mavis’s PC, what chance is there that all our data will stay secure on the ID Card, Passport Control, Driving Licence, MI5, MI6, CID, Child Support, Social Services, Home Office, NHS Trusts, and all the other systems in future now that we know that one third of data is currently leaked using the current hard disc, tape and CD (optical) systems?

Can they be trusted with our data, in other words?

A FAT CHANCE is the phrase we are looking for!!!

Watch Out for the Scam Double-Bluff!

Pre-script

However, the problem has not gone away – the menace continues.

@AmazonHow Internet Scammers Get Attention

As you will know, websites LOVE to be seen.  We LOVE lots of hits!  It’s a kind of fame thing if all you want to do is shout and be heard;  it’s a life or death business thing if you need to make money from your visibility.

This much is obvious.  But as I’ve trawled the dark side, looking for more filth like:

  • Google Treasure Chest
  • Google Money Kit
  • etc

…it’s become obvious that fifth columnists are at work!  How?

Try these google searches:

Okay.  You’ll see that I’ve done two similar searches for each of the three operations:

  • Google Treasure Chest (GTC)
  • Success University
  • CarbonCopyPro

Google Treasure Chest

If you examine the search results (first page only!) you’ll see that GTC returns a load of obviously bad things about them, including my post, google-treasure-chest-its-a-scam-and-a-half/, which set the ball rolling for me all of er.. 19 days ago!

Success University and CarbonCopyPro

Success University and CarbonCopyPro have a lot of results that purport to be investigations and ‘the truth’ about the organistions.  There are a lot of actual ‘truth revealed’ about the ‘scam’ going on these websites.  You think “oh great, now I can really find out what’s going on..”

Now check the videos!!!

You’ll discover that these are shameless plugs to continue the pyramidal building of these MLMs

It’s staggeringly successful when you consider it!. Like a spy in the camp, what they’ve done is squeezed themselves to the top of the Google rankings in both good and bad terminology searches!  So if you want to find the dirt on CarbonCopyPro, add it to the words ‘scam’, ‘ripoff’, ‘fraud’ or suchlike – and there they are!  Go in and check the link, and it’s a plug!  If you want to find good things about CarbonCopyPro, do the same but mix it with ‘success’, ‘wealth’ or ‘professional’ or ‘winner’ – and there you go!  It’s another plug!

This is the proof of the Scam Double-Bluff

Like in a game of poker, the many faces of the schemer wins each time.

Google Treasure Chest Scamming Plug

Of course, our old GTC friend isn’t without some similar scheming….  Pay a visit to,

workathome-scams.com

‘Mike Taylor’ in this beautifully worded webpage says,

WARNING: If You Do Not Read This Webpage You May Get Scammed!

‘Mike’ recommends two ‘schemes’ with his ‘brutally honest opinion’, as he calls it, from all the horrible scam schemes out there.  These are,

  • Google Money System (warning bells going yet?  SP!)
  • Process Rebates

Google Money System takes you to

securecartcenter.com/Nzg3OHwxMjF8Mjg5NTIzfHYy/m2qem4b9/g

…which is our old friends at securecartcenter.com again.  So the number one recommendation is the number one scammer.  Can you spot a connection?

Process Rebates

This second ‘recommendation’ needs special mention and is a firm warning to the gullible. You are redirected (naturally) to,

processaffiliaterebates.com/index2-control-25feb.php?caCode=AFFREBATE&p=0&caid=14849&cid1=0&cid2=1261&cid3=0&cid4=False&sid=&stID=67&new=1&subid=CD51354&misc3=-CD51354

A WHOIS reveals that they are ‘protected’ by Whois Privacy Protection Service, Inc.  From spammers, they claim, although it’s an ideal way for spivs to cover their tracks.  You’ll also see that 97% of site vistors are from the USA….  more of that later.

At the website you’ll find a nice little lady yabbering away in the bottom right corner of the screen called Diana DeAngelo.  Fill in the boxes with some garbage and you’ll be taken to an even bigger spiel and even more wordy words.  Be careful.  She’s seriously got ‘the voice’ – like Saint Bob from BandAid.  It’s a nice homely American accent….  I could feel my pockets automatically emptying themselves under some strange volition.

But before you plough ahead and hand over your $157, check down at the bottom at the various disclaimers etc.  Try processaffiliaterebates.com/disclaimer.htm

You’ll discover that the business is based in Nicosia, Cyprus and all your dealings with the company will be governed by Cyprus laws.

They mention this elsewhere in the reams and reams of clauses on this and the ‘Terms of Use’ page also.  They don’t say whether it’s the North or the South…   Now I’m not against Cyprus or anything, but would the spiel look as convincing coming from a natural Cypriot called Stavros?   Here I’m reminded that one of the biggest business scandals of the last 20 years was Polly Peck and it’s Cypriot owner Asil Nadir.  He even owned Del Monte at one point!  (he say yes!)  Since his prosecution, Nadir has fucked off to Northern Cyprus (Turkish) from where he cannot be extradited.  The border between the North and South of Cyprus runs right through the middle of… yes you’ve guessed it… Nicosia!

So you have to ask yourself,

…in which part of Nicosia is processaffiliaterebates.com registered?

Because if it’s the north, which it most probably is, the laws there are considerably different to the rest of the world, no matter how much Turkey wants to be part of the European Union!  And remember, 97% of  processaffiliaterebates.com’s hits come from the USA, not Northern Cyprus.

Intellichat

Hopefully you’ve spotted the shit flying by now, or have at least smelt the aroma.  As you attempt to close the processaffiliaterebates.com webpage, a message from an attractive young lady pops up.  It looks like you can chat to a real person….

No you can’t.  Type in ‘hi’ as prompted and you’ll get some automated sales pitch.  You can type various things in and a few sensible sounding answers pop back.  But the clue is in the link to the people who’ve made this javascripted tool, http://www.intellichat.com/

Like in Terminator, the robots are taking over the world.

Google Treasure Chest – Update

@AmazonSince the first posting about this scam about 10 days ago, Google Treasure Chest – it’s a scam and a half! alone has attracted over 3000 page views.  From these, about 100, sometimes desperate,  people have commented and admitted that they’ve been sucked into the scam on that and the other postings around the subject.

Make from these numbers what you will.

  • Maybe it means I’ve stopped over 2000 people getting ripped off?
  • Maybe, as I suspect, most people don’t like to admit they’ve been made to look a chump – and I can empathise with that.

I’m in a computer-free zone for a day or two so any further comments will be held for moderation.  If I didn’t, I’d have about 3000 comments of viagra garbage from our friends in St Petersburg and Shanghai which would make information very hard to find!  The comments list would be about a mile long…

So until then, if you’ve been conned by the Google Treasure Chest/kit/pack and the host of related websites:

  • Don’t give up
  • Act swiftly
  • Call one of the numbers that we’ve found that works from people’s comments under the postings
  • Cancel the subscription
  • Warn your bank if necessary
  • Change your credit card if necessary

You can still leave information and tips for other victims, but if you’ve not commented before, your comment won’t show immediately.  As a resource for others, all information is valuable, so please post away!

I’ll be back
