Everything just… works!!! Since buying it we had Automotive Leisure convert the water supply from inbound to outbound .

Bought from Automotive Leisure in 2014. This is our second caravan, a previous one being an Eriba Triton. Below is our Troll in their original promo – Very little has changed since then.

I did a short walk through of the interior – not as good as I’d hoped since a wide angle lens is needed. It’s filmed in our garage where it’s been stored when not used.

French made EribaTroll, made before the factory closed at the beginning of the credit crunch. Some of the French models took a while to catch up with the German ones for weights and dimensions thus this model is 200cm wide with a 1100kg MRO. (The width means that it can pulled by most cars without mirror extensions!! ) The French factory was reputed to have some “issues” with even the maker’s plate being incorrect – be that as may, this is an amazingly tight vehicle. It has no faults. All seals withstand pressure hoses (I’ve tested) so the re’s no water leakage when driving in horrendous downpours (we’ve done it and it is so) No damp. All doors, windows & cupboards close properly.

It features the very rare yet practical kidney shaped table in a cosy dining area next to the door. For us, this makes on-the-road travelling very practical, similarly for being parked up with an awning (included). This is because I am physically quite large being very broad shouldered, so the access for me, is great!

Always parked under cover and/or garaged and comes with a Reich motor mover, weather cover, hitch cover and awning. The Troll has oodles of very practical storage, with two-way easy under bed access for deck chairs (say), standard overhead lockers and various little hideaways on the door, corners, under sinks and more. It has two sinks, a wc and pumped water (an external pump and barrel is needed, not supplied… It has a 3-ring hob and fridge with freezer compartment.

We are selling the caravan complete with an awning, a storage cover and a Reich motor mover. Note for all prospective Eriba buyers: The skin is aluminium and has has ripples even when they exit the factory as new. This is all part of their charm so don’t let that put you off in any photos you see here or elsewhere. They are amazing tough machines, repairable if necessary with the minimum of equipment, so you could quite easily travel the world and yet still be safe, warm and weatherproof.

Our Eriba Troll Pros and Cons

Pros:

  • Well built, weatherproof & strong with all the cooking, heating & toilet facilities you’d normally need.
  • Big enough for a couple or with kids or grandchildren – may need to use the awning.
  • Easy to tow because of the aerodynamic shape and anti-sway tow hitch and over-run brakes.
  • It’s a cute, cute, design classic! A conversation starter…!!

Cons:

  • Although the biggest in the Eriba range a Troll may be too small for large families since extra people will need to sleep outside or be very cosy.
  • It’s horse for courses with this as with all caravans.
  • The only con we have noticed with our Troll is the lack of fitted mosquito net over the main door. These are available as after market add-ons but we’ve never bothered since we just used the awning.

In short, this caravan has provided us our holiday travelling needs for quick breaks and UK & continental touring.

Location, Delivery or Collection Our Troll is currently garaged in our house in France in Lot et Garonne which is department 47. It’s an 8 hour drive from the channel ports. It will be in the UK during March for viewing and delivery (by arrangement).

We’d love our Troll to be as loved and cared for in future as it has been in the past.

Disclaimer Our Troll is as described to the best of our knowledge with everything working okay.  Really – it’s ready to go and could tour for thousands of miles right now.  If anything happens in transport it will be minor and easy to fix. This is the charm and practicality of this fifties gem explained in one sentence.
